One-to-one culturally sensitive structured counselling programme
Nilaari provides a counselling service that meets the needs of Black & other Minority substance users. This provides a confidential holistic service using a ‘harm minimisation’ approach.

Group work
Nilaari has established the Phambili 10 session group work programme (Phambili means to move forward). The Phambili group work programme is specifically designed to help individuals who want to stop or reduce their crack cocaine use. The agency also facilitates other group work programmes.

Advocacy
Nilaari recognises that for some clients the process of rebuilding their lives requires them to access advocacy, enabling many to deal with some of the issues/problems that have occurred whilst using drugs.

Criminal Justice Resettlement Work
We focus on people exiting the prison system, providing intensive support to clients to ensure that they receive individual packages of care. These might include: -
- Preparatory work in prison with clients before release
- Meeting clients on the day of their release from prison
- Referral to relevant programmes and services within the community

Complimentary Therapies
The offer of complimentary therapies is available to individuals accessing other Nilaari services.

Youth Work (including supplementary schools)
All outreach/detached youth work in the community is designed to raise awareness of drugs and drug related issues. The work includes informing young people of services available to them locally.

Family Support
Nilaari recognises that in order to support the major life changes that will be undertaken by people seeking to break drug dependency, there is a need to offer advice and support to family members and friends who will be directly involved in the individual’s programme of recovery. Referrals can be made to supporting agencies.

Client Free phone line
The free phone line is the initial point of assistance for people with drug related problems. Individuals can obtain information, advice and/or referral to appropriate services.

Training
Tailored drug awareness and diversity training to statutory and non-statutory organisations is available.
